Building Services / Electrical / Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of mechanical and electrical building services systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, lighting, and public health systems
• Prepare engineering calculations, schematics, layouts, and reports
• Size plant and systems including ductwork, pipework, cable containment, and associated equipment
• Contribute to project delivery across all design stages from concept to construction
• Work within a multidisciplinary design team to deliver coordinated designs
• Liaise with architects, structural engineers, contractors and clients
• Attend internal and external design meetings
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulations and industry standards
• Assist in the preparation of specifications, reports and tender documentation
• Participate in internal design reviews and quality assurance processes
• Carry out site inspections and monitor installation progress
• Review contractor submissions and technical documentation
• Support commissioning and handover activities

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• Approximately 4 years' experience in a building services consultancy
• Knowledge of Irish regulations and standards
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building systems
• Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and/or relevant analysis tools
• Ability to produce coordinated and practical design solutions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as part of a team and independentlyOrganised, proactive, and detail-oriented
• Commitment to continuous professional development
• Progress toward Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Ireland or equivalent)
• Experience with BIM coordination
• Exposure to sustainable design and energy-efficient systems
