Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles County (NHS) seeks a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help the company expand more deeply in communities throughout the LA Region. The COO is responsible for overseeing the organization’s daily operations and helping to enhance internal processes to help the nonprofit grow and fulfill its mission. The successful candidate will accomplish these goals by developing short and long-term business strategies, ensuring that systems perform at an optimal level and inspiring staff teams to produce top-quality products or services while decreasing costs and increasing revenues.
The successful candidate will:
- Position will report to the President & CEO.
- Review and analyze financial reports, participate in budgeting process, identify and implement cost‑saving measures, pursue new business opportunities, and monitor organizational performance.
- Will be responsible for negotiating contracts, managing business operations systems and ensuring that all NHS offices run smoothly on a daily basis.
- Will work with the senior management team, serve as liaison to partners, and work with the President & CEO to keep abreast of community development and finance, business growth strategies and challenges.
- Will work with CFO, to develop, implement, and manage the operational aspects of the annual budget.
- Provide effective and inspiring leadership by being actively involved in all business lines, production teams and developing a broad and deep knowledge of all production impacts.
- Identify opportunities to leverage cross-program strengths to take advantage of new opportunities and/or to address organizational challenges.
- Develop and implement a system for tracking and reporting on the progress of business plan implementation.
Requirements
- Minimum BS/BA degree with at least 10 years of experience and a track record in senior level Operations Management is required.
- Adept in organizational management with the ability to coach staff to manage teams and develop and implement production and/or programmatic strategies.
- Have deep experience in production-based budgeting and fiscal management.
- Be an analytic and decisive decision maker with the ability to prioritize and communicate key objectives to staff, and tactics necessary to achieve business goals.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent public speaking skills.
- Must possess valid California Driver License and automobile insurance.
- Must be bondable.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 20 pounds.
- Sit at desk for extended periods of up to three or four hours at a time.
- Speak and hear detailed information via verbal communication in person, telephone and/or community meetings.
- Stand and/or walk for majority of a workday.
Salary and Benefits Package
- Start date: Immediate
- Salary: $150,000 -- $185,000 annually
- Paid vacation and health benefits, commensurate with industry standards
