Patrick Walker, wrote his goals on the back of a napkin, our people, culture, and values have remained strong.About the position: As the Cloud and Infrastructure Lead, you will drive operational excellence and technological advancement within our infrastructure team while leading the transition from on-premise legacy systems to cloud-native healthcare platforms. This role combines deep technical expertise with team leadership, ensuring our high-performing infrastructure team delivers exceptional services to support Arkana's medical practice operations, Clinical Trials business line, and custom applications like Arkana Connect. The Cloud and Infrastructure Lead will oversee 2 infrastructure team members while maintaining hands-on involvement in cloud engineering, network operations, and healthcare infrastructure functions.Leadership & Team ManagementLead and mentor a team of 2 infrastructure engineers (on-premise systems administrator and cloud engineer)Conduct regular 1:1s and team meetings to provide guidance, feedback, and professional developmentFoster a collaborative culture focused on innovation, technical excellence, and healthcare complianceParticipate in strategic planning for infrastructure growth and technology roadmap developmentDrive adoption of modern DevOps practices and cloud-native technologies across the teamCloud Strategy & Technical OperationsLead cloud architecture design and implementation for healthcare applications and data platformsOversee day-to-day operational activities across internal and healthcare infrastructure environmentsDrive migration strategy from on-premise infrastructure to cloud-native solutions (AWS preferred)Ensure proactive monitoring, maintenance planning, and execution of infrastructure tasksDesign and implement scalable, secure cloud infrastructure supporting Arkana Connect and analytics platformsEstablish cloud governance, security frameworks, and compliance standards for healthcare data (HIPAA)Service Delivery & Problem ResolutionServe as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues and infrastructure incidentsLead incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis effortsManage change management processes and coordinate with stakeholders on infrastructure updatesCollaborate with development and operations teams to ensure infrastructure solutions meet business requirementsSupport Clinical Trials infrastructure requirements and specialized healthcare system integrationsPlatform Engineering & Continuous ImprovementDesign and maintain CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and infrastructure monitoringDrive continuous improvement of tools, processes, and automation initiativesDefine and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for infrastructure operationsImplement and optimize cloud security, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutionsChampion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices and automation across all infrastructure componentsStrategic Technology LeadershipProvide technical expertise and recommendations on emerging technologies and best practicesContribute to vendor evaluations and technology selection decisionsCollaborate with Director of Engineering on infrastructure budget planning and technology roadmapSupport data hygiene initiatives and legacy system migration projectsPartner with development teams to optimize application deployment and performance in healthcare environmentsOther duties as assignedYou should have: Required Experience:5-8 years of progressive infrastructure/systems engineering experience with 2-3 years in leadership or senior technical roleProven experience leading cloud migration projects from on-premise to cloud environmentsExperience leading small teams and managing complex technical projects in healthcare or regulated environmentsStrong background in cloud platforms (AWS strongly preferred, Azure or GCP acceptable)Healthcare, medical practice, or regulated industry experience strongly preferredHands-on experience with hybrid cloud/on-premise infrastructure management and ITIL processesRequired Technical Skills:Expert-level knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with strong preference for AWSProficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates)Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platformsStrong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and DevOps practicesUnderstanding of network architecture, security frameworks, and compliance requirements (HIPAA)Experience with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic, etc.)Knowledge of database administration in cloud environments (RDS, managed databases)Required Leadership & Communication:Demonstrated ability to lead small teams, conduct regular 1:1s, and provide professional developmentStrong problem-solving skills with ability to serve as primary escalation point for complex issuesExcellent communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersExperience with vendor management, change management processes, and stakeholder coordinationAbility to translate business requirements into scalable infrastructure solutionsProven ability to work under pressure during incident response and system outagesPreferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field preferredRelevant cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator, or equivalent)Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates)Experience with healthcare data systems, EHR integrations, and medical device connectivityKnowledge of data engineering platforms and analytics infrastructure (supporting Tableau, etc.)Experience with security frameworks, compliance auditing, and change management in regulated environmentsBackground with Clinical Trials infrastructure and specialized healthcare system requirementsExperience in managed services or consulting environments with client-facing responsibilitiesSchedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
