Job DescriptionJob DescriptionTharseo IT is seeking a Principal Cloud Architect (Cloud Architect Level 4) to lead the design and implementation of secure, enterprise-scale cloud environments supporting federal and mission-critical workloads. This role will provide architectural leadership across cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and platform engineering initiatives while guiding engineering teams through complex modernization efforts.The Principal Cloud Architect will work closely with technical leadership, program management, and customer stakeholders to design resilient cloud architectures that support secure, high-performance workloads. While experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is strongly preferred, candidates with significant experience across major cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure are encouraged to apply.This role is primarily remote within the United States, with periodic travel required to support customer engagements.

Certain project phases may require onsite presence in the Boston, Massachusetts area.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the architecture and design of secure, scalable cloud environments supporting enterprise workloadsDevelop reference architectures and engineering standards for cloud infrastructure deploymentsCollaborate with engineering teams to implement infrastructure automation and deployment frameworksGuide modernization efforts involving legacy infrastructure migration to cloud environmentsProvide architectural oversight across networking, identity management, and security controlsEnsure cloud solutions align with federal security frameworks and best practicesParticipate in technical strategy discussions with program leadership and customer stakeholdersReview engineering designs to ensure performance, resiliency, and operational readinessProvide mentorship and technical leadership to cloud engineers and systems engineersSupport proposal development, technical planning, and architecture documentation as requiredLead design and implementation of OCI environments using a mature Infrastructure-as-Code platform Required Qualifications12+ years of experience in enterprise IT infrastructure or cloud engineering5+ years of experience designing large-scale cloud architecturesStrong experience with cloud networking, security architecture, and infrastructure designDemonstrated experience leading architecture efforts for complex enterprise environmentsActive Secret clearance or ability to obtain oneStrong understanding of cloud security principles and federal compliance environmentsExperience designing resilient, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure platformsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong expertise in Terraform and Terragrunt for infrastructure provisioning and orchestration, along with Ansible for configuration management automationPreferred QualificationsHands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)Experience supporting federal or defense-related IT programsFamiliarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-53 and FedRAMPExperience designing multi-region or high-availability cloud architecturesBackground supporting infrastructure modernization or cloud migration initiativesExperience mentoring engineering teams and leading architecture reviewsWork EnvironmentRemote within the United StatesPeriodic travel to customer locationsPotential onsite support in the Boston, MA area during key project phases
