Job Description

CTR Group is seeking experienced CNC Machinists for a Directhire placement with a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer near Tuscaloosa, AL. These roles support highprecision machining of complexcomponents in a clean, safetyfocused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling and turning centers to produce precision aerospace and defense components
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, tool lists, and work instructions
• Select and install cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding for materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and Inconel
• Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain strict tolerance requirements
• Perform inprocess and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and other precision tools
• Deburr and finish parts to aerospace standards
• Document production data, inspections, and process steps in the ERP system
• Set up and run both proven and unproven parts, including medium to highcomplexity components
• Support prototype, firstarticle, and experimental machining efforts
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve issues and improve manufacturability
• Participate in continuous improvement and lean initiatives
• Maintain a clean, organized, auditready work area

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• 5 Axis Machining Experience Required
• Strong understanding of aerospace drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications
• Proven ability to hold tight tolerances and work with precision components
• Proficiency using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, etc.)
• Solid math skills, including fractions, decimals, and basic geometry
• Working knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing documentation practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machining processes
• Familiarity with first article inspections (FAI) and quality documentation is a plus
• Understanding of AS9100, ITAR, or other regulated manufacturing environments is preferred
