General Description:
The Commercial Cleaner is responsible for ensuring the commercial buildings and facility under their supervision, are spotless, sanitary, free and clear of garbage and debris, and fully operational during business days (4 days a week) and up to four (4) hours each weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for a total of 20-25 hours per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with the team to provide overall support to base building and tenants services for the Commercial portfolio.
- Perform detail cleaning, garbage, and snow removal for site specific properties.
- Collecting all garbage bags from front garbage bins and moving them to main disposal areas.
- Ensure all storage rooms and electrical rooms are locked and secure
- Record meter readings every Monday or Tuesday of every month
- Ensure carpet and hallways are free of debris. Check in with office tenants for assisting garbage removal from their suites.
- Check warehouse and storage areas, for safety and order
- Daily cleaning of the office hallway corridors, washing floors, stairwell and daily wipe down of the staircase spandrels
- Check showers, toilets and faucets for leaks or issues.
- Inspect roof areas to ensure clear and free of debris
- Restocking supplies where needed (toilet paper, soap etc.).
- Checking in with office and retail tenants at the Complex and flagging any issues with your Supervisor and Head Office
- Participate in daily interior and exterior round check to the building, common areas (washroom, parking), exit/entry points for security, and recommend building improvements.
- Performing security patrols around property before leaving. Ensuring tenants remove all structures or items blocking driveways or fire routes.
- Creating, reviewing, addressing and closing out all work orders on MRI Angus and proactively responding to tenants or liaison with Property Administrator for support to address individual tenant needs
- Perform handyman duties such as:
- Replace and repair ceilings, tiles, T-bar, floors, and stairs.
- Patching and painting where required.
- Repair and installation of doors and entry frames.
- Attending to plumbing concerns, including clean up.
- Addressing minor electrical issues (installation of light fixtures, duplex outlets, light switches).
- Coordinate the need and coordinate with vendors for Preventative Maintenance requirements and ad hoc services.
- Operational and technical troubleshooting as necessary.
- Delivering of packages, collection of rent and drop off tenant notices/letters between various buildings and head office as required.
- Communicate with Head Office & Leasing team, helping to onboard and offboard tenants (move-ins/outs), address day-to-day needs including keys, elevator/freight access, signage, and move management.
- Perform regular inspection/maintenance duties, including exterior lighting, HVAC units filter replacements, building irrigation systems (where applicable
- Daily monitoring of fire life safety systems to ensure equipment is fully functional.
- Update administrative paperwork including building report cards, equipment/inspection tags.
- Investigate building alarms and coordinate with monitoring services, with Property Administrative support.
- Recognize and acknowledge this role includes weekend and may require calls after hours to address building emergencies.
- Assist at other locations in the Commercial portfolio within the company as requested.
- Reporting of all major issues to Supervisor and Head Office Property Administrator
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Team player.
- Safety first with a can-do attitude.
- Must have a valid G driver’s license.
- College, or trade school diploma required.
- Building operator experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of MS Office (Outlook and Word).
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good command of the English language.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Detail oriented and good scheduling skills.
- Proficient and knowledgeable with using tools associated with the job.
