Serving two primary markets – passenger vehicle and commercial truck – Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.
Our Engineering group has an opening for a Laboratory Technologist Metallurgical/Mechanical at our R&D Center in Oakville, Ontario.
Primary responsibilities:
- Perform metallurgical and mechanical analysis, cleanliness and chemical testing in support of day-to-day operation of laboratory for new product or process development in the automotive industry
- Execute sample preparation and experimental testing using internal equipment/facilities
- Compose laboratory reports, sample collection and compilation of data in support of process and product investigations
- Deliver timely laboratory support for problem solving, material and process investigations, and product development activities
- Deliver timely/rapid turnaround time for lab requests, and provide support for lab equipment maintenance and adherence to health & safety and quality standards
Qualifications & Skills:
- College diploma in a related field at the Technologist level
- Recent graduate, one to two years’ experience preferred, in the automotive industry. Working knowledge of metallurgical and lab methods are important assets.
- This is a hands on role so familiarity with basic tools and techniques is critical
- Familiarity with automotive QS requirements would be an asset.
- Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, results oriented, and able to deliver multiple project activities in a fast paced environment
- Must have good communication and customer-support skills, and proven ability to organize and document experimental conditions and results.
The expected annual base salary range for this role is $60,000- $70,000 CAD. The actual base salary offered to the successful candidate may vary based on multiple factors including but not limited to, individual's expertise and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered.
