OverviewOur client is seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst to support a range of ongoing energy and data-focused initiatives. This role is heavily centred on Excel-based data analysis, with a primary focus on improving data quality, consistency, and accuracy. You will work with large volumes of customer and operational data, playing a key role in ensuring reliable datasets to support critical downstream processes across the business.
Key ResponsibilitiesExtract, analyse, and manipulate data within Excel spreadsheetsPerform extensive data cleaning and validation, addressing poor or inconsistent data qualityIdentify and resolve errors, anomalies, and data gapsCross-reference and reconcile data across multiple sourcesSupport migration from legacy systems to new platformsProduce clean, accurate datasets for reporting and operational useWork with customer data and meter-related informationSupport data accuracy for energy supply and smart meter processesEnsure data integrity to prevent downstream issues (e.g. incorrect records, billing/top-up errors)Key Projects / ContextMigration of data from a legacy system into a new platformSupporting implementation and integration of new systems (including clearing functions)Addressing inconsistent and unreliable datasets requiring significant cleansingSupporting high-volume data handling within an energy/utilities environmentKey Skills & ExperienceEssentialAdvanced Excel skills (core requirement), including:Data manipulation and cleansingFormulas, lookups, and reconciliation techniquesProven experience working with large datasetsStrong attention to detail and accuracyDemonstrated experience in data validation and quality assuranceAbility to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve data issuesDesirableExperience supporting system migrations or working with legacy dataBackground in energy, utilities, or customer data environmentsUnderstanding of data reconciliation and cross-referencing processesKey AttributesHighly detail-oriented with a methodical approachStrong problem-solving capabilityComfortable working with imperfect or unstructured dataProactive in identifying issues and driving data improvementsAble to work independently while contributing to an in-house teamAdditional InformationThis role focusses on data accuracy and preparation, rather than visualisation or reporting.Data issues currently impact key business processes, making this role critical to operational success.Emphasis is on "getting the data right" before any downstream use.Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
