Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.
The work location for this role is 483 Bay Street in Toronto until approximately late 2026, when the work location will change to the new Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway.

What You’ll Be Doing
Reporting to the Manager IS Architecture, the Data Governance Specialist plays a pivotal role in defining data governance across Fidelity Investments Canada while creating and maintaining frameworks, standards, policies, artifacts, and procedures to support this. Passionate about data governance and data quality, the candidate must be an effective communicator with a good understanding of data analysis, data quality, data movement, business glossary, metadata, and data modeling. This role works closely with various teams to ensure data governance standards and best practices are being applied consistently across Fidelity Investments Canada.
- Establish, implement, and document governance processes for managing data, and build organization awareness on key data topics.
- Work with business and architecture teams to promote consistency, quality, integrity, and accessibility of shared data and information across the organization.
- Build organization awareness on key data topics, including facilitation of the data steward and owner community.
- Data governance and quality assessments on projects/programs.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve data issues related to uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness to support business reporting requirements.
- Business process mapping & risk identification.
- Manage and maintain metadata repositories (data dictionary, business glossary) and data classification process (identification of sensitive data).
- Develop materials and conduct training on data governance best practices and technologies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve data accuracy and ensure that data owners are accountable for data quality.
- Provide inputs on the design and development of data models for data warehousing, reporting, and analytics projects, contributing to successful completion of project deliverables.
- Participate in project/team meetings and collaborate with stakeholders as appropriate.
What We’re Looking For
- University degree, preferably with a focus in IT, Business, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 4‑5 years of experience in data governance, including measuring/monitoring data quality, and recommending improvements in data.
- Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience with business glossary and metadata management tools (e.g. EDC, Collibra), data quality tools (Informatica DQ) and business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, SAP Business Objects, Salesforce Einstein Analytics).
- Financial services industry experience, an asset.
- Certified Data Management Professional from DAMA International, an asset.
Expertise You Bring
- Experience and knowledge of data governance in a cross‑functional environment of multiple data sources/repositories.
- Ability to assess and recommend improvements in data management processes and tools to ensure requirements are met.
- Enthusiasm for problem solving with a creative and resourceful approach to finding the right solution for the job.
- Self‑starter, ability to adapt and quickly develop in‑depth technical understanding of new/different applications.
- Solid communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
- Expertise in data governance and data quality experience using industry standard tools.
- Experience with data warehousing (SnowFlake), data lakes and SQL databases preferred.
- Experience with data streaming using AWS Kinesis and Kafka, an asset.
- Thorough experience on cloud platforms, a strong asset.
- Understanding of data warehouse and data mart concepts, ETL best practices.

- Base Salary and Discretionary Performance Bonus – a competitive annual range of $105,000 to $123,000, based on your experience and qualifications.
