SUMMARY
The Director, Information Technology is a leadership role responsible for overseeing Butler/Till’s information technology operations, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, and AI strategy. This role unifies day-to-day technology operations with forward-looking innovation, ensuring the organization’s infrastructure is secure and scalable, third‑party enterprise platforms deliver measurable value, and AI is seamlessly embedded across workflows to drive efficiency, quality, and client impact. The Director, Information Technology will be held accountable for both operational stability and transformational innovation, enabling the organization to scale growth without proportional increases in headcount while future‑proofing the agency through the adoption of emerging technologies.
Key Outcomes & Responsibilities
Key Outcome: Implement and maintain seamless and secure IT operations to ensure business continuity and empower employees to work efficiently and confidently
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a stable, secure, and scalable IT environment that supports 400–500 employees.
- Managed Service Provider partnership, ensuring SLA adherence, performance, and strategic alignment.
- Lead cybersecurity strategy, threat detection, incident response, and compliance.
- Lead and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity planning to minimize operational risk.
Key Outcome: Enforce enterprise technology governance to maximize platform value, eliminate redundancy, and ensure fiscal and operational accountability
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and optimize the agency’s third‑party enterprise software stack (outside DevOps).
- Supervise Enterprise Product Managers to drive full adoption, training, vendor accountability, and measurable ROI.
- Lead procurement protocols to eliminate redundancy and unauthorized technology purchases.
- Manage vendor contracts, SLAs, renewals, and license optimization to ensure cost efficiency and compliance.
- Own IT and Enterprise Technology budget, including forecasting, spend analysis, and continuous cost optimization.
Key Outcome: Define and execute an AI Roadmap that embeds artificial intelligence into workflows to drive efficiency, quality, and scalability
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, publish, and execute Butler/Till’s AI roadmap, aligned to business strategy and growth objectives.
- Lead evaluation, implementation, and adoption of enterprise AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot).
- Integrate AI into workflows to eliminate redundancy, reduce manual tasks, and improve output quality.
- Establish governance frameworks and ethical AI policies to ensure secure, compliant, and brand‑safe usage.
- Measure and report AI impact through productivity gains, error reduction, scalability, and FTE efficiency.
Key Outcome: Drive innovation and future readiness by identifying, testing, and integrating emerging technologies that enhance agility and competitive advantage
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify emerging technologies (e.g., AI, no‑code/low‑code, automation platforms) and run pilot programs.
- Partner with Business Transformation, Product, and Finance to align technology exploration with strategic objectives.
- Maintain and communicate a forward‑looking technology roadmap that positions the agency for sustained innovation and growth.
Key Outcome: Engage, retain, and enable performance of talent
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute and proactively manage talent plans. Assess, hire, on‑board, and grow role‑appropriate talent.
- Manage a team; set clear, outcome‑based performance goals. Establish and maintain development plans for each.
- Provide effective feedback that enables employees to improve and work toward goals, while seeking feedback from team to enable inclusion and continuous improvement.
- Remove barriers to enable team outcomes.
- Provide opportunities for growth and development, while mentoring and inspiring employees to unlock their full potential.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years’ experience in IT operations, enterprise applications, or digital transformation leadership.
- 5+ years of leadership/supervisor experience.
- Strong background in cybersecurity, vendor management, and enterprise software ecosystems.
- Experience with AI adoption, automation, or emerging technology enablement.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.
- Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or Business (preferred).
- Experience in marketing/advertising technology environment (preferred).
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks and IT governance best practices (preferred).
- Technical fluency in cloud, SaaS integrations, and enterprise architecture (preferred).

COMPENSATION
Butler/Till is committed to providing pay transparency of our compensation philosophy and ensuring equitable pay practices for our employee owners. The compensation range for this position is $132,000- $184,000 and represents the annual salary range in Rochester, NY. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.
This is just one component of Butler/Till’s total compensation package for employee owners. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including ESOP (employee stock ownership plan), an annual bonus, in addition to a full benefits package, and paid time off benefits, including 100% paid parental leave. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
