Director of Software Engineering (Austin)

Director / Senior Director, Software Engineering | XR Platform | Austin, TX A neurotechnology company building one of the most technically ambitious platforms in the market is looking for a senior software engineering leader to own their entire device software stack. This is not a SaaS role. Not a mobile app role.

You're shipping real hardware into the real world, and the software has to work when it's strapped to someone's head reading their brain signals in real time. The role spans Android/XR runtime, firmware integration, real-time biosignal pipelines (EEG, eye tracking, PPG, IMU), adaptive training applications, and backend infrastructure. You own it end to end, from EVT through PVT and into field support.

You'll report directly to the CEO and be a founding pillar of the engineering leadership team. What they're looking for: 12 to 15 years of software engineering experience with senior leadership on integrated hardware/software products. You've shipped VR, XR, wearable or embedded systems.

You understand what production-ready actually means when latency, thermals and sensor reliability are non-negotiable. Experience with Android-based platforms, real-time low-latency systems, and cross-functional debugging across firmware, device software and cloud layers is essential. Biosignal or ML-driven adaptive systems experience is a strong plus.
