Director of Sterile Processing
Location: Asheville, NC
Compensation: $110,000 - $170,000 base salary
Incentive Bonus: Up to 17.5%
Relocation Assistance: Starting at $5,000
Sign-On Bonus: Case by case

Reporting directly to the VP of Surgical Services, the Director of Sterile Processing provides strategic and operational leadership for all sterile processing functions, ensuring high-quality instrumentation support for ORs, CVOR, Endoscopy, Labor & Delivery, and inpatient/outpatient ambulatory clinics. This leader supports department managers and team leads, drives continuous quality improvement, ensures staff competency, promotes regulatory compliance, and enhances coordination with surgical services to improve efficiency and patient safety. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic oversight and leadership for the Sterile Processing Department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and perioperative needs
• Assist with recruiting, developing, and evaluating qualified sterile processing staff to ensure appropriate staffing and competency levels
• Partner with the Sterile Processing Manager to implement and sustain robust quality control programs, including compliance with all accreditation and regulatory standards
• Promote continuous assessment and improvement of instrumentation processing quality and service delivery
• Oversee orientation, education, and ongoing training programs for all sterile processing personnel
• Collaborate closely with perioperative leadership and other clinical departments to improve coordination and workflow efficiency
• Recommend capital and operational resources to support quality, safety, and efficiency objectives
• Actively represent the organization in internal and community initiatives to strengthen the department's visibility and reputation
• Maintain knowledge of OR instrumentation, aseptic technique, infection control practices, and sterile processing technology
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence across all areas of responsibility Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Nursing, or completion of a two-year Surgical Technology program
• CSPDT or CRCST certification required
• IAHCSMM certification required (CRCST)
• Minimum 5 years of sterile processing experience
• Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Central Sterile Processing (required for submission)
• Strong leadership, communication, and technical skills
• Proven ability to manage high-pressure environments, maintain attention to detail, and support multidisciplinary teams
• Strong knowledge of OR instrumentation, aseptic technique, infection control, and sterile processing operations
• Must have acute care experience and leadership experience in larger-scale sterile processing operations
