Job Description
Overview
In the Strategy & Business Development group at Georgia-Pacific, we partner with senior executives to answer strategic questions and provide broad vision—organic growth strategy and acquisition/divestiture strategy—to the company and its subsidiaries.
We are seeking a Director, SBD, to join our onsite team at GP HQ in downtown Atlanta, GA. This highly visible role requires cultivating relationships and collaborating across several capabilities. Local applicants or those willing to relocate are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Capability Development & Execution/Acceleration: Create analytical and conceptual frameworks to support line managers’ strategic decision making, including financial analyses, POV development, vision development, price optimization, benchmarking, and best‑practice sharing. Build quantitative analysis to determine the value of qualitative POVs.
- Transformation Support: Assist leaders in identifying transformational opportunities and driving organizational progress toward step‑change performance.
- Market & Competitive Analysis: Continuously assess GP business segments and adjacent markets, develop value‑chain analysis and price‑setting mechanisms, and conduct competitor analysis to support the Georgia-Pacific Point of View.
- Product & Brand Strategy: Provide strategic assistance on channel, pricing, market‑share capture, channel mapping, and go‑to‑market strategy to drive growth for a GP division.
- Business Development (M&A): Provide strategic and analytical input into potential mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, develop business cases, and lead strategic due diligence and valuation initiatives.
- Advance our Principle‑Based Management culture by applying and reinforcing the company’s Core Values and Principles.
Basic Qualifications
- Combination of experience in strategic consulting, strategic planning/corporate development, business development, and/or growth strategy.
- Management consulting experience (e.g., Bain, McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group).
- Bachelor’s degree in business or another quantitative discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the manufacturing industry (consumer products, packaging, building products, etc.).
- Experience leading teams.
