Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Electrical Designer based in our downtown Calgary office.
- Develop electrical drawings, layouts, and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical and supporting CAD tools
- Prepare electrical deliverables including single-line diagrams, cable schedules, panel schedules, and related design documentation
- Support the design of power distribution, lighting, grounding, and control systems
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil/structural, instrumentation, and process disciplines to integrate electrical systems into overall facility design
- Support engineering activities including load lists, equipment data, and drawing/document preparation
- Revise and update drawings to reflect engineering review comments, client input, and field conditions
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination activities
- Maintain organized and accurate project documentation and drawing records
- Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and client specifications
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of electrical design experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, pipeline, or related industrial projects
- Strong understanding of electrical power distribution systems, grounding, lighting, MCCs, motor control, cable tray systems, and hazardous area classification
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical and CADWorx is considered an asset
- Familiarity with applicable electrical codes and standards, including the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and design standards
- Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment
