Caterpillar Inc. seeks Embedded Software Validation Engineer at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Drive, Chillicothe, IL 61523.
The role involves validating software, testing, and creating documentation in compliance with safety‑regulated software development processes. Responsibilities include programming automated test scripts for HIL/dSpace Testbench based on functional software specifications, developing, integrating, releasing, and validating production software for the Excavation Division’s primary platform using requirements‑management tools, implementation languages, and automation tooling platforms, utilizing model‑based development tools to perform system analysis and software design/validation, performing on‑machine or HIL development activities to ensure machine‑level performance and feature design targets are met, and providing continuous HIL hardware and software maintenance. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and three years of experience in software validation or testing, or the equivalent.
Alternatively, a master’s degree with one year of experience is also acceptable. Additionally, applicants must have experience with source‑control tools and software change‑management practices; dSpace applications and MATLAB/Simulink; Agile software development and DevOps; communication protocols such as CAN and their support tools; hardware tools including multimeters, debuggers, and oscilloscopes; testing/validating embedded control systems solutions; electro‑hydraulics such as implements and hydrostatic systems; and automation tools such as Python. Summary Pay Range
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00
