Energy Manager - ERCOT
Lancium
Job Description
Overview
Lancium develops gigawatt-scale campuses purpose-built for AI data centers, designing and orchestrating the full power infrastructure — from grid interconnection to behind-the-meter solar and large-scale energy storage. With over 5 gigawatts of capacity in various stages of development, our current projects rank among the largest in the world.
Backed by leading strategic and financial investors, including Blackstone, Shell, and Arclight, Lancium has spent six years building a best-in-class infrastructure platform and is now rapidly accelerating commercialization. The convergence of artificial intelligence and massive energy demand — balanced by the need for clean energy — represents one of the defining global challenges and opportunities of our time. Lancium sits at the center of this transformation, uniquely positioned to drive and enable unprecedented growth.
If you want to be part of this global shift and contribute to building the next generation of energy infrastructure, we invite you to join us.
What You Will Do
Lancium is seeking a commercially experienced and self-motivated energy professional to help manage our multi-gigawatt data center portfolio, ensuring reliable, cost-effective, and transparent energy supply for our customers. Reporting into the VP, Power Operations, the Energy Manager will support the continued development and execution of Lancium’s retail and wholesale power operations in ERCOT, working closely with both customers and internal teams to deliver market intelligence, operational excellence, and customer confidence.
In this role, you will:
- Contribute to refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that underpin scalable, compliant retail and wholesale operations.
- Support day-ahead scheduling, real-time monitoring, settlement reconciliation, and core retail REP functions (compliance, invoicing, onboarding, and reporting).
- Develop forward-looking ERCOT market views (current day through three years out) and share insights with customers to inform their hedge plan decisions.
- Partner with customers to implement their hedge plans, providing guidance and then facilitating transactions with approved counterparties once decisions are made.
- Provide daily customer updates on market fundamentals, plan progress, and performance against objectives, highlighting what’s working and what’s not.
- Define requirements for dashboards and analytical tools, ensuring customers have visibility into key metrics (market fundamentals, power prices, settlements, usage) and the Power Team has internal dashboards to track performance metrics tied to business success. Work with the Software Development Team to test and refine these tools prior to release.
- Deliver quarterly market intelligence reports that contextualize ERCOT trends and risks for AI data center operations.
What You Will Achieve in Your First Year
- Deliver Exceptional Customer Value: You will have delivered multiple quarterly market intelligence reports centered around how Lancium’s Clean Campus AI datacenter customers can minimize their power costs and you will have been a key contributor in defining the requirements for enhancing internal power analytics tools and dashboards.
- Deliver Operational Excellence: Establish yourself as a trusted operator by ensuring accurate day-ahead submissions, real-time monitoring, and settlement reconciliation. Build customer and internal confidence through repeatable processes that safeguard compliance and strengthen Lancium’s REP operations.
- Advance Our Business Process Management Library: Contribute to the refinement of Standard Operating Procedures, capturing the workflows that underpin scheduling, settlements, invoicing, and reporting. Your work will add clarity and consistency, supporting scalability as Lancium’s portfolio grows.
- Regulatory Compliance: Oversee adherence to all ERCOT, PUCT, and other regulatory requirements, maintaining the REP license and ensuring 100% compliance through timely filings, audits, and reporting
- Optimize Market Operations: Develop effective working rhythms with QSEs, customers, and internal stakeholders to maximize value in ERCOT’s markets. Translate usage patterns and market developments into actionable strategies that minimize delivered energy costs.
- Support Refinement of Strategic Systems: Collaborate with the VP of Power Operations and product teams to shape the next generation of energy management tools.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel skills.
- Familiarity with ERCOT systems, such as MIS and MarkeTrak APIs.
- Strong applied knowledge of the ERCOT market (beyond general familiarity, with evidence of operational or commercial application).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for continuous learning and a strong interest in the energy sector.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
