Job Description - Engineer, Remote Hands Support (Shift Manager)
MISSION• To manage a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, Electrical, BMS and implementation engineers to provide the safe and reliable operation of business critical Data Centre site. Keep Quality of Facility Service and Daily Work, Network service in DC. Customer Satisfaction by Managing Quality of DC Operation and Implementation.• Interaction with a range of internal stakeholders and with extensive customer involvement.• Has team player responsibilities for other engineers on site.
Able to work in shifts.• Facing internal and external audits for various DC/Facilities related compliances
OUTCOMES• An DC Shift Engineer is responsible for the operation & maintenance during his shift including customer SLA management (including but not limiting to Power, cooling, network, Security systems, etc)• First level of contact for Site escalation & communication.• Capacity, Security, Change, Incident and Event Management• Deliver on DC uptime & maintenance KPI's through planned, preventive & predictive maintenance.• Database Management - Drawings, Asset, Power, Cooling, Capacity, Customer, Cabling.• Create Monthly Reports/MIS for the internal and external customer.• Create/Review the procedure for all maintenance activities (MOPs, SOP, EOP, etc)• Manage, supervise and lead to make sure that maintenance and inspection are conducted properly so all facilities remain in good condition.(Mechanical / Electrical / Security / Building).• Cost Management - Analyse costs from vendors and create Purchase Orders, maintain PR/PO tracker, follow up till invoice certification & bill payments.• Provide process management, implementation, improvement of special facilities upgrade/ implementation projects from the planning phase to the operation phase.• Responsible for governing statutory and compliance requirements• Provide reliable operation of sites, ensuring planned preventative and corrective maintenance activities for mechanical and electrical infrastructure are completed to agreed policy, procedure and standards• Responsible for the safe implementation of locally managed engineering projects and overseeing the implementation of larger infrastructure project, without impact to customers
THE TEAMThe role provides 1st contact level of contact for all site related escalations/communications/co-ordination. The role works with NOC Ops, Service Ops, Projects Design/Build, Transition, IT, Finance, Procurement Teams to for delivering Site uptime, Facility service quickly and efficiently and, where required.The role supports Site Engineer & Manager with Site Operations by providing technical expertise & managing O&M, Transition, Retrofit projects, vendors where ever required by managing shifts.Other key internal and external stakeholders include Major Build and Operations Lifecycle Design and Delivery Teams, Colt DCS and Colt Core Staff, Customers and Suppliers
THE SKILLS / EXPERTISE THEY BRING• Experience of Operation, Maintenance or construction of Data Center/Telecom facilities. (Electrical/Mechanical/Firefighting/Security/Cabling etc.)• Responsible for Planning, Organizing & Supervising operations & maintenance of DC buildings in shift.• HT/LT electrical system, HT DGs, FAS, PKDx, HVAC systems, WLD, Rodent repellent, VESDA, BMS, ACS, CCTV surveillance & monitoring round the clock• Responsible for attending breakdown, scheduled maintenance activities & following proper reporting process to NOC, Customer & management.• Coordinate response to emergency situations that may impact operations. Monitor the execution of facility policies & practices & ensure that team follows organizational & statutory operations & safety standards.• Shift planning & deployment of manpower efficiently.• Timely verification of all MIS & bills received & follow up till timely payments with appropriate trackers to achieve max incentives.• Creation of risk assessment, change management, incident management, customer ticket assignment & resolution.• Interpersonal communications skills with fluency in English.Qualifications:1. Bachelor/Diploma of Engineering / Masters of Engineering in Electrical stream.2.
CDCP / CDCS / CDFOM3. Minimum Data center/Telecom experience 8-10yrs
