Engineering Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager with strong hands-on experience in PHP (Yii2 framework) and Node.js as primary technologies, along with working knowledge of Angular or React as secondary frontend skills. The ideal candidate should have proven experience leading engineering teams, driving technical architecture, managing project delivery, and designing scalable database solutions—preferably on PostgreSQL.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead and mentor a cross-functional engineering team working on backend, frontend, and full-stack projects.
• Provide architectural direction for PHP (Yii2), Node.js, and frontend stacks (Angular/React).
• Ensure code quality, scalability, security, and engineering best practices.
• Drive design discussions, technical decision-making, and long-term engineering roadmap.

Project & Delivery Management

• Oversee end-to-end delivery of projects, ensuring timely execution aligned with business goals.
• Collaborate closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders.
• Break down complex requirements into technical tasks and effort estimates.
• Manage sprint planning, resource allocation, and risk mitigation.

Hands-on Technical Contribution

• Guide backend development using PHP Yii2 and Node.js.
• Contribute to coding, PR reviews, debugging, and high-level design.
• Support frontend team in Angular/React where needed.

Database & System Architecture

• Architect scalable databases using PostgreSQL with deep expertise in:
• Schema design
• Indexing strategies
• Query optimization
• Performance tuning
• Partitioning, replication, backup strategies
• Collaborate with DevOps for CI/CD, containerization, and deployment best practices.

People & Process Management

• Recruit, onboard, and develop engineering talent.
• Conduct performance reviews, mentorship sessions, and skill development initiatives.
• Enforce engineering processes like coding standards, documentation, and testing practices.
• Promote a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Primary:
• Strong expertise in PHP (Yii2 Framework)
• Strong expertise in Node.js and modern JS ecosystem
• Secondary:
• Hands-on experience in Angular and/or React
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL including performance tuning, query optimization, and complex data modeling.
• Experience designing scalable APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of REST, JSON, caching mechanisms, authentication/authorization, and security best practices.
• Working knowledge of Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure preferred).

Managerial & Leadership Skills

• 3–7+ years of leadership experience as Team Lead / Engineering Manager / Technical Manager.
• Strong experience in leading 6–20 member engineering teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to balance technical depth with business priorities.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Redis, RabbitMQ/Kafka, Elasticsearch.
• Exposure to Data Engineering or Analytics pipelines.
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps-driven organizations.
• Experience in high-transaction or high-availability systems.
