About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive EHS professional to lead and manage Environment, Health & Safety functions at our steel manufacturing facility in Durgapur. The role requires strong expertise in statutory compliance, safety systems, and environmental management within a heavy industrial/steel plant setup.
Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with statutory EHS regulations, including Factory Act, Pollution Control Board norms, and other applicable lawsDevelop, implement, and monitor EHS policies, SOPs, and safety procedures across plant operationsConduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments; ensure timely closure of observationsLead incident investigation (accidents, near misses) and implement corrective and preventive actionsMonitor environmental parameters (air, water, waste) and ensure adherence to pollution normsLiaise with government authorities (Pollution Control Board, Factory Inspectorate, etc.)Drive safety culture initiatives, awareness programs, and training for employees and contractorsEnsure proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste as per compliance standardsPrepare and maintain EHS reports, MIS, and documentation for internal and external auditsLead emergency response planning and mock drillsManage and mentor EHS team members
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Metallurgy/Industrial) or ScienceDiploma / Certification in Industrial Safety (Mandatory)Minimum 8-15 years of experience in EHS within steel / heavy manufacturing industryPrior experience in integrated steel plant or rolling mill preferred
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and compliance in steel/manufacturing industryHands-on experience in plant safety, risk assessment, and incident managementExpertise in ISO standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001)Good analytical, communication, and leadership skillsAbility to handle audits and regulatory inspections independently
Preferred Skills
Experience in steel/TMT manufacturing setup is mandatoryStrong exposure to plant operations and contractor safety managementAbility to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
