Priority Candidates will be considered in the first instance Wigan Life Centre South Salary: Grade 8, £36,363 - £40,777 per annum. 37 hours per week Your role: Environmental Protection Officer (EPO) within the Environmental Protection Team. Responsibilities Responding to planning consultations for air quality, noise and land contamination. Air quality monitoring, reporting and improvement initiatives.
Environmental permitting: inspection of businesses and issuance/varying of permits. Management of contaminated land and private water supplies. Qualifications and experience Environmental degree (Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or Geography).
Extensive experience in planning consultations, especially for land contamination. Experience in environmental permitting and land contamination issues. Experience in acoustics related to environmental protection.
Experience working in a Local Authority or private sector dealing with environmental issues such as air quality, land contamination and noise. About you Confident, highly motivated team player with a good eye for detail. Sound knowledge of environmental protection legislation and guidance.
Strong initiative and sound judgement, able to work across a broad technical area and within varied environmental protection functions. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to listen, explain, negotiate and influence. Committed to continuous professional development.
