Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts for a project. Prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors. Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare estimates on changes to cost estimates.

Key responsibilities

• Cost analysis:
  Review architectural drawings, blueprints, and specifications to understand the project's scope and requirements.
• Budgeting:
  Prepare detailed estimates for all project costs, including materials, labor, and equipment.
• Tendering:
  Advise on and prepare tender documents, analyze bids, and negotiate with contractors and suppliers.
• Site visits:
  Visit construction sites to gather cost-related information, assess site logistics, and monitor progress.
• Reporting:
  Maintain cost and expenditure statements and prepare reports on project progress and budget adjustments.
• Supplier management:
  Establish and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors, and obtain quotes from them.
• Collaboration:
  Communicate and collaborate with architects, engineers, owners, and other project managers to ensure accurate estimates.

• Proficiency in math and data analysis.
• Detailed-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
• Experience with project management and estimating software is often required.
