$40.00/hr - $45.00/hr

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Fibre Validation Engineer with extensive experience in fibre optic infrastructure within hyperscale data centre environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of fibre testing parameters and demonstrate proficiency in fault finding, circuit validation, and fibre maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform end-to-end fibre circuit validation, including OTDR testing, insertion loss, and return loss measurements.
• Diagnose and resolve fibre faults, including breaks, bends, and contamination.
• Conduct fibre cleaning, splicing, and connector inspection using industry-standard tools.
• Interpret test results and generate accurate documentation and reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on network performance and validation standards.
• Operate within hyperscale data centre environments, understanding complex topologies such as spine-leaf architecture.
• Expert in fibre optic fundamentals and testing methodologies.
• Proficient with tools such as EXFO, Fluke, and Viavi.
• Strong understanding of hyperscale data centre topologies and structured cabling systems.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with health & safety protocols and change control processes.

Confirms continuity and correct routing

Mechanical and fusion splicing of fibre cables

Includes splice tray management and loss minimization

Connector Inspection

Use of microscopes and inspection tools to assess connector condition

Identifies contamination, scratches, and defects

Documentation & Reporting

Accurate recording of test results and validation reports

Familiar with Excel, PDF reports, and test equipment software

Health & Safety Compliance

Working safely with lasers and in data centre environments

Understands PPE, laser safety, and site protocols

Working with cross-functional teams and reporting to stakeholders

Clear communicator, especially when explaining technical findings

Use of EXFO, Fluke, Viavi, and other fibre test equipment

Advanced

Confident in setup, calibration, and result interpretation

Understanding of change management processes and technical documentation

Able to follow and contribute to formal engineering processes
