Monmouth Regional High School has the following opening available for the 2026-2027 school year.
Finance Assistant
Salary Range: $50,000 - 60,000
Qualifications:
1. Minimum experience as determined by the board and High School Diploma.
2. Understanding of the principles and practices of financial accounting and reporting procedures consistent with statute, code and GAAP requirements.
3. Demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. High level of interpersonal skills required to interact with employees, leaders, vendors and others.
4. Knowledge of accepted business practices, laws and regulations governing school districts related to budget preparation and administration, risk management, purchasing, transportation, food services, school plant operations and facility planning, or is willing and able to study and attend training to gain this knowledge.
5. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or resident alien status.
6. Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment.
7. To assist the Business Administrator with business affairs of the district to help achieve the educational goals of the district. To assist in the performance payroll functions, human resource and tax related duties, with a high degree of responsibility, discretion and confidentiality, using independent judgement, in addition to routine work necessary.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Assist the School Business Administrator with various financial reporting as prescribed by statue, administrative code and board policy.
2. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive correspondence, records and information.
3. Assists with preparation of proposals for negotiations with various collective bargaining units.
4. Responsible for bi-monthly in-house payroll, maintaining payroll purchase orders, encumbrances, processes liability payments, compile and prepare required specialized reports.
5. Responsible for employee personnel profile for implementing and maintaining payroll processing, pension, health, and dental enrollments and required federal and state reports.
6. Act as liaison for communication and problem solving.
7. Processes State required paperwork for retirees and pension purchases.
8. Assist with preparing financial statements, income statements and cost reports to reflect the financial condition of the district. Ensure that no budgetary appropriations exceed the amount appropriated by the board of education.8. Responsible for posting receipts and making Board approved budget transfers.
9. Process grant reimbursements and assist in grant applications and final reports.
10. Responsible for entering GAAP line accounts in budget and approved budget monies.
11. Responsible for maintaining audit requirements, year-end closing figures and start up procedures.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the School Business Administrator or CSA/Superintendent of Schools.
