ROLE PURPOSE
As the Finance Manager at A.T.G, you are responsible for owning the end-to-end finance function within a fast-growing, multi-market e-commerce business.
This role is both hands-on and commercially focused. You will manage the day-to-day financial operations while also building the visibility, forecasting, and modelling capability needed to support business growth.
Working closely with the COO, CEO and external Finance Advisory, you will ensure the numbers are accurate, the processes are strong, and the business has clear financial insight to make confident decisions.
This role will transition responsibilities from an external CFO function and requires a hands-on operator who can both execute core finance functions and provide strategic financial guidance. The role is critical in supporting business growth, particularly across eCommerce, international expansion, and multi-entity structures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the accuracy, structure, and reliability of financial reporting across the business.
- Maintain accurate financial records across Xero and integrated systems.
- Own month end close process, including journals, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly consolidated management reports (whole business and marketing), including:
- Consolidated Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow
- Consolidated Budget vs actual analysis with variance commentary
- Key KPI reporting (e.g. marketing efficiency, gross margin, shipping costs as % of sales)
- Deliver timely and accurate financial insights to support decision-making.
- Maintain and improve reporting structures across entities (AU and US).
- Ensure accurate integration and reconciliation across Shopify, A2X, Cin7, and accounting systems, maintaining consistency of financial data and outputs across all platforms.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve issues proactively.
- Provide support to the external Finance Advisor, facilitating review processes and ensuring appropriate financial oversight.
- Maintain strong financial controls and documentation standards.
Cash Flow Management & Working Capital
- Provide clear visibility and control over the business’s cash position.
- Own and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts (weekly and 13-week).
- Monitor actuals vs forecast and highlight risks early.
- Manage working capital across inventory, payables, and receivables.
- Plan, Monitor and manage liquidity to support growth and operational needs.
- Partner with COO on cash strategy and funding considerations.
- Support decision-making through clear financial modelling and insight.
- Build and maintain financial models to support business planning.
- Partner with COO and Planner on revenue, margin, and inventory forecasting.
- Analyse profitability across various international markets, channels, and products.
- Support pricing, promotional, and margin decisions.
- Model scenarios relating to growth and operational changes.
- Budget preparation and management.
Transactional Finance & Bookkeeping
- Own the efficient execution of day-to-day finance operations.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes end-to-end.
- Execute supplier payments in line with agreed terms.
- Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of bank accounts, payment gateways, and financial systems, maintaining integrity across all financial records.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and correct bank reconciliations.
- Improve efficiency and reduce manual handling over time.
- Ensure all supplier invoices are correctly processed, matched, and allocated in Cin7 in line with Purchase Orders and stock receipts, enabling accurate inventory valuation, COGS, and month-end reporting.
Payroll & Compliance
- Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance across all finance obligations.
- Manage weekly end-to-end payroll process.
- Maintain accuracy of leave balances, entitlements, and superannuation.
- Onboarding of new employees, including payroll setup in Xero and integration into internal systems.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes to payroll legislation, including award rates, superannuation, and other statutory obligations, ensuring timely and accurate implementation.
- Prepare, manage and lodge monthly Business Activity Statements with the ATO.
- Prepare, manage and lodge payroll tax returns.
- Prepare, manage and lodge WorkCover reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with ATO and relevant regulatory requirements as and when required.
- Co-ordinate international compliance with third party advisors.
- Support audit or external review processes where required.
Systems, FX & Process Improvement
- Strengthen systems and processes to support scale and international operations.
- Own finance system integrity across Xero, Cin7, Shopify, A2X.
- Manage multi-currency transactions, FX impacts, and reconciliations.
- Support international trading requirements and payment flows.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Document and standardise finance processes.
Team Collaboration & Business Partnership
- Work cross-functionally to support alignment, performance, and decision-making.
- Partner closely with COO on financial visibility and business performance.
- Oversee and coordinate external advisory relationships, including tax, insurance, and finance providers, to support the business’s financial and strategic objectives.
- Work with Planner on inventory and financial alignment.
- Support Operations Manager with cost control and operational planning.
- Provide clear financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
- Contribute to a collaborative and solutions-focused team environment.
