About the role
Financial Reporting & Compliance is responsible for leading accurate and timely financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax obligations, and financial control activities for Trelleborg Marine Systems Australia Pty Ltd and related Trelleborg entities.
The role partners closely with the Financial Controller across month-end and year-end close, group reporting, external audit coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a key role in strengthening finance capability, reducing key-person dependency, and supporting long-term succession planning within the local finance function.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, hands‑on experience across Australian statutory and tax frameworks, and prior multinational reporting exposure. Experience with group consolidation/reporting systems such as Tagetik is highly regarded.
This role also acts as a technical resource within the team, mentoring junior accountants and supporting best‑practice financial governance to other group companies within the region.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Month end / Year end
- Own timely and accurate month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables.
- Maintain integrity of the general ledger, ensuring accurate and compliant accounting records.
- Support year-end statutory close and preparation of annual financial statements.
- Translate ERP system data (AX 2012) into management and reporting outputs using advanced Excel tools including lookups and pivot tables.
- Analyse financial performance including variances to forecast, budget, and prior period.
- Maintain balance sheet integrity through reconciliations, and monitor inventory controls, variances, and follow up actions.
- Drive improvements in reporting timeliness, accuracy, and process efficiency.
- Support internal controls and finance governance processes.
- Group Reporting
- Own submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting into the global reporting platform (Tagetik).
- Ensure alignment between local ledgers and group reporting requirements.
- Support ad hoc regional and global finance reporting requests.
- Statutory / Tax
- Prepare and lodge BAS and related indirect tax filings.
- Prepare and lodge payroll tax returns.
- Coordinate preparation and lodgement of company income tax returns with external tax advisors.
- Reconcile all tax balances across trading and holding entities.
- Coordinate FBT, transfer pricing, and other compliance obligations as required.
- Prepare statutory reconciliations including Enclosure 22 and related reporting requirements both internal and external.
- Coordinate external audit requests and year-end statutory compliance processes.

- Maintain strong process controls
- Support finance transformation and process improvement initiatives.
- Assist Financial Controller and Financial Accounting Manager in other ad hoc assignments and provide backup support to the Financial Controller as required.
- Build and foster strong cross functional relationships
Education and experience
Degree qualified CA/CPA with at least 7–10 years of relevant professional experience, including:
- Australian statutory and tax compliance
- Financial accounting in a multinational environment
- IFRS reporting
- Group reporting and systems experience (Tagetik preferred; BPC / HFM / Onstream also considered)
