Financial Analyst: General Accounting
Location: Saskatoon, SK

The Financial Analyst is responsible for delivering accurate financial reports and supporting the company’s financial operations through account reconciliations, variance analysis, and forecasting support. This position plays a key role in preparing internal and external working papers, supporting audits, performing treasury functions, and providing financial insights to drive operational decisions. The analyst ensures compliance with accounting standards and contributes to system and process improvements that enhance financial visibility and accountability.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain internal and external financial reports, including working papers for audits and regulatory compliance
- Reconcile general ledger and intercompany accounts monthly and resolve discrepancies
- Perform treasury functions including bank reconciliations and cash reporting
- Analyze financial trends, prepare variance reports, and investigate performance deviations
- Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, and other business units to deliver financial insight and support decision‑making
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation
- Maintain and enhance financial systems and processes, including ERP and reporting tools
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and GAAP/IFRS accounting standards
- Participate in ad hoc financial projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and maintain high standards of data accuracy
Required Competencies
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and variance analysis
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to interpret financial results and provide actionable insightsEffective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and with external organizations
- High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation or working towards designation is preferred
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in financial reporting or general accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Microsoft Business Central or similar ERP systems
- Experience with financial reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Jet Reports) is an asset
- Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and internal control standards
- Experience supporting internal/external audits and working with cross‑functional teams
