What You'll DoAs the Global Practice Management Senior Director (GPMSD), you will partner closely with the Global Practice Area Leader (PAL) and Practice Leadership Team to define, operationalize, and deliver the Practice's strategic agenda. Acting as a strategic advisor and operational leader, you will translate vision into execution-driving initiatives, shaping effective operating models, and ensuring strong performance across regions, sectors, and key priorities. You will serve as the Practice's Chief Operating Officer / Chief of Staff, overseeing execution of global, regional, and sector agendas, including:Products, content, and go-to-market strategyVantage (Knowledge), including IP, tools, and assetsMarketing, communications, and external positioningPeople, affiliation, and engagementFinance, commercial excellence, and planningAs a core member of the Practice Leadership Team, you will lead the Practice infrastructure and operating model, ensuring world-class operations that deliver high-quality, scalable support to internal and external stakeholders.You will oversee a global team of staff across Practice Management, Operations, and Knowledge, and contribute to firm-wide priorities through cross-practice collaboration and leadership communities.Key Responsibilities: 1.
Setting Strategic Direction and Driving OutcomesAct as a strategic thought partner to the PAL and Leadership Team to shape and execute long-term visionLead annual planning and align priorities across regions, sectors, and functionsTranslate strategy into actionable initiatives with clear ownership and trackingMonitor business performance, identify risks, and drive corrective actionsManage budgets, investments, and resource allocation aligned to strategic prioritiesIdentify and scale growth opportunities, including investment cases and execution roadmaps2. Driving Thought Leadership, IP, and Product StrategyShape and execute the Practice's IP and product agenda (content, tools, databases)Partner with Vantage teams to innovate in knowledge capture, tools, and analyticsEnsure strong governance and ROI on investmentsDrive dissemination and adoption of content across case teams and clientsBuild collaborations with internal (e.g., BCG X, functional PAs) and external partners3. Building Brand and External Presence (SATT)Define and execute marketing and communications strategy with sector leadersOversee flagship publications, PR, and global eventsStrengthen the Practice's external positioning and visibilityTrack ROI on branding investments and refine strategy accordinglyDevelop partnerships and innovative approaches to expand reach4.
Leading the People and Affiliation AgendaAlign people strategy with commercial priorities and Practice needsDrive engagement, affiliation, and internal connectivity across the PracticeOversee global and regional meetings, communications, and community buildingSupport capability building through training (e.g., Practice academies)Foster alumni engagement and external networks5. Building and Leading High-Performing TeamsDefine vision, structure, and performance expectations for Practice Management, Operations, and Knowledge teamsLead, coach, and develop senior team membersOversee hiring, talent pipeline, and organizational designParticipate in key people processes (e.g., reviews, committees)Partner with Knowledge leadership to evolve Vantage capabilities6. Representing the Practice Across BCGAct as key interface with global functions (Finance, HR, Marketing, etc.)Contribute to GPMSD and firm leadership forumsRepresent the Practice in cross-PA initiatives and strategic programsDrive alignment and collaboration across practices and regions
What You'll Bring15+ years of relevant experience (consulting, strategy, or senior operational leadership)Strong strategic thinking combined with execution excellenceSignificant experience leading large, global, and matrixed teamsDeep understanding of industry sectors relevant to the PracticeProven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignmentStrong financial, operational, and organizational management capabilitiesMBA or equivalent advanced degree preferredExcellent communication skills and proficiency in collaboration tools
