Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:The Warehouse Technician, under the direction of the Warehouse Manager, is responsible for the daily shop activities including janitorial, handling goods and materials, maintaining the cleanliness of the warehouse, and aiding inventory managementESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment.Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.Transport materials to and from job sites and warehouse locations.Assist in organizing and maintaining items of inventory systematically.Maintain a clean and safe working environment and optimizes space utilization.Follow all safety protocols and warehouse procedures.Perform inventory controls to ensure accuracy.Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager and other team members to accomplish the work required to maintain the warehouse.Unload and load stock, materials, tools, etc., and distributes them to the appropriate areasAssist in performing inventory cycle counts.Maintain work area by performing light janitorial work such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning of spills.Maintain tool and equipment logs.Secure yards and buildings at closing time.Collect and disposes of debris, metals, and other items requiring disposal.Maintain driveways, walkways, doorways, and handicap ramps in the summer and winter. (Manistique location).Perform lawn maintenance tasks such as mowing, weed eating, raking leaves, trimming bushes, and minor landscaping. (Manistique location).Transport and deliver lawn equipment to and from Housing worksites in the outlying areas (Manistique location)CONTACTS: Immediate peers, immediate supervisor/manager and vendors.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Position very heavy with lifting objects over 100 pounds with team or dual lifting and frequent lifting/carrying of more than 50 pounds.
Physical factors include constant standing, walking; frequent carrying/lifting, pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, manual handling, use of hearing, bending; occasional sitting, use of smell, near/midrange/vision, depth perception, and color/field of vision. Working conditions include constant exposure to extreme weather, heat/cold, wet/humidity, noise and vibration and occasional exposure to air quality. Protective equipment and clothing needed to perform job include hard hat, safety glasses, protective footwear and other protective equipment needed to perform functions of position.
REQUIREMENTS:Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.Experience: Minimum of two years of general warehousing, inventory control, shipping and receiving of goods, maintenance, construction, or warehouse-specific field required; four years preferred. Advanced training or certification in warehouse or construction management preferred.Certification/License: Must obtain a Chauffeur’s License within 90 days of employment. Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department.
Must comply with annual driver’s license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with the Sault Tribe’s Drug-Free Workplace Policy which may include random drug tests.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of building and maintenance products. Knowledge of hand and power tools and equipment.
Must have working knowledge and be able to use word processing and spreadsheet and database software. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must have excellent organization skills; organizing work, prioritizing tasks, and managing time.
Must be able to work extended hours when needed. Must be flexible and available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisory personnel, coworkers, and the general public.
Must have basic math skills. Must be able to handle physically demanding situations. Must be able and proficient at operating forklifts and load machines.
Must know truck and trailer hook-up and operations. Must have knowledge and ability to use basic tools/equipment of the trade. Must have basic knowledge of small equipment repair.
Must maintain strict confidentiality.
