Job Description
LHH is partnering with a confidential aerospace organization building advanced flight systems. We’re seeking an Avionics Hardware Manager to lead the design, development, integration, and validation of avionics hardware for a complex, multi‑disciplinary program. This role blends people leadership with hands‑on technical oversight and close collaboration across software, systems, manufacturing, quality, and flight operations.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop a small team of avionics hardware engineers; set goals, coach, and manage performance.
- Own avionics hardware architecture and key trade studies for power, flight computers, sensors, comms, and interfaces.
- Review and approve schematics, PCB designs, and layout; ensure performance, reliability, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Oversee bring‑up, integration, verification, and qualification testing (e.g., thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC).
- Drive root‑cause analysis and resolution during development, integration, and flight test activities.
- Maintain robust documentation, configuration management, and change control.
- Represent the team in design reviews and program forums; support requirements definition and traceability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (Master’s a plus).
- 8+ years in avionics or aerospace hardware development.
- Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring engineers.
- Depth in avionics systems architecture, analog/digital design, PCB schematic capture and layout review, and power/signal integrity.
- Hands‑on experience with hardware test, debug, and environmental/qualification methods.
- Ability to balance leadership with technical depth and day‑to‑day decision‑making.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or scaling engineering teams in fast‑moving environments.
- Background with flight‑critical systems (e.g., high‑altitude platforms, UAVs, spacecraft).
- Familiarity with aerospace standards (e.g., DO‑160, DO‑254) and readiness/flight test support.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
