Head of Fund Accounting / Senior Controller – Private Equity | New York

A leading private equity investment firm is seeking a Head of Fund Accounting / Senior Controller to join its senior leadership team. This role will report directly to the Managing Partner and oversee all aspects of fund accounting, financial reporting, valuation oversight, year end audit, tax, and investor reporting across the firm’s private equity platform.

The position offers the opportunity to play a strategic leadership role while managing day-to-day accounting operations, overseeing a team, and working closely with auditors, service providers, and senior investment professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all fund accounting activities including NAV calculations, fee allocations, and cash management
• Oversee quarterly and annual financial reporting and ensure compliance with US GAAP / IFRS
• Manage the valuation process for portfolio investments and ensure adherence to fair value guidelines
• Serve as the primary liaison with auditors and tax advisors during annual audits and filings
• Drive process improvements across accounting systems, controls, and reporting workflows
• Support investor relations by addressing complex investor and partnership accounting inquiries
• Manage and mentor fund accounting staff, including training and performance oversight

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of fund accounting experience within private equity, asset management, or public accounting
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP / IFRS and private equity fund structures
• Experience with industry systems such as Investran, Geneva, NetSuite, or similar platforms
• Proven leadership experience managing teams and interacting with senior stakeholders
