This is a vital role within a busy school environment, ensuring all food and non-food supplies are received, stored, and distributed to the highest standards. The RoleAs Head of Stores, you will take ownership of all goods-in, storage, and stock control processes.
Working closely with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team, you will ensure stock is managed effectively, compliance standards are met, and operations run seamlessly. A full UK driving license is required for this role. Key Responsibilities Stock & Deliveries Receive and check all deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notesEnsure all goods meet required standards for quality, quantity, and temperatureReport any discrepancies, damages, or quality issues promptlyStore all items safely in line with food safety and FIFO guidelines Storage & Organisation Maintain clean, tidy, and well-organised storage areas (dry stores, fridges, and freezers)Ensure accurate labelling, dating, and stock rotationMonitor stock levels and communicate shortages to the kitchen team Stock Control Ensure all orders are placed in line with unit requirementsSupport the Head Chef with weekly stocktakes and inventory checksEnsure weekly stocktakes are completed accurately and on timeMinimise waste through effective stock management and rotationProvide accurate stock data to support ordering processes Health & Safety Follow all food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety regulationsEnsure safe manual handling of all deliveries and stockMaintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all storage areas Team Support Work closely with chefs and kitchen teams to ensure smooth serviceSupport the stores team to ensure efficient goods-in and delivery processesContribute to a positive, professional, and efficient working environment Skills & Experience Previous experience in a stores, warehouse, or kitchen environment preferredBasic understanding of food hygiene and storage practicesStrong organisational skills with excellent attention to detailAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentGood communication and teamwork skillsPhysically capable of lifting and moving stock safely Personal Attributes Reliable and punctualProactive, hands-on approachPositive attitude with a willingness to learnStrong work ethic and pride in maintaining high standards Apply NowIf you're a detail-driven and dependable professional looking to play a key role in delivering outstanding catering operations, we'd love to hear from you.
