About the role
We are seeking a talented individual to join Mercer’s Health Actuarial team as an Analyst. This role will be based in San Francisco, CA. It is a hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in the office or a client site.
Health actuarial analysts work closely with senior consultants in the design, financing, pricing, and administration of client companies’ health and welfare programs. You will be part of teams that plan designs, contribute strategies, and conduct benchmark studies that meet client benefit and financial needs. The environment is learning‑filled and supportive.
Responsibilities
- Develop employee contribution strategies to meet employer cost objectives
- Assist in the development of customized pricing and valuation models
- Price medical and prescription drug plan designs using proprietary tools
- Analyze vendor renewals, plan experience and estimate future plan costs
- Build underwriting and actuarial skills related to health care plan design, cost factors, and the renewal process
Qualifications
- Actuarial, math, statistics, economics, engineering degree (graduation Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 preferred); GPA 3.0/4.0 minimum
- Commitment to an SOA designation; at least one SOA exam or related certification passed
- Legal U.S. work authorization without sponsorship
Preferred Skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Microsoft Office and advanced programming skills (R, Python, SAS, SQL) a plus
- Data analysis, project management, presentation design experience
- Excellent communication and teamwork
- Organized, detail‑oriented, adaptable to tight deadlines

Compensation
Base salary: $77,000/yr.
