Position Overview

RWJBarnabas Health’s Northern Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery is seeking a Heart Transplant & Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center (NBIMC).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive surgical care across the full spectrum of adult cardiothoracic surgery.
• Serve as a key operative leader in heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support (MCS).
• Perform heart transplantations, participate in donor procurement, and manage temporary and durable MCS (LVAD/RVAD/ECMO).
• Support system growth by extending advanced cardiac surgical services across RWJBH Northern affiliates.

Qualifications

• Fellowship-trained in cardiothoracic surgery.
• Specific expertise in heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices (VAD), and complex cardiac surgery.
• Strong clinical and operative leadership skills.
• Ability to manage MCS devices and donor procurement.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $550,000 - $700,000, dependent on educational background, skills, and experience.
