Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced HR Partner to support our managers and employees. You will work closely with the leaders and their managers responsible for business areas in Hungary and the UK. This will include Engineering, Sales and Global Functions business areas.
We anticipate the split between Hungary and UK will be a 60/40 split. This role will own the Hungary region from a HR perspective e.g. determine the necessary HR solutions and deliver proactive value add HR support, implement global strategies and ensure alignment with local policy and procedure, and support the teams to develop and grow their businesses with effective HR advise and coaching. For the UK you will take ownership for a specific area of the UK business and work alongside other HRBPs in the UK who support the UK business areas.
The role is part of a close HR team who work across EMEA who all are passionate about driving Sophos’ global HR agenda and providing a value add service. You will also work closely with Global HR Business Partners and business leaders to support the delivery of business outcomes and HR Projects and initiatives. You will provide full cycle HR support on areas such as employee relations, change management, talent and performance management.

What You Will Do
- Work closely with Global HR Business Partners, to align business objectives with employees and management locally in designated business units.
- Advise managers to implement programs and initiatives aligned to business strategy in areas such as performance management, recognition, career development, workforce planning, succession planning, talent development, compensation planning, performance management and employee relations, including managers based in Hungary, UK, the US, Canada or other parts of EMEA.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in local employment law, policy and processes; provide coaching and hands-on support to managers across HR topics, ensuring local culture and legislation are understood and applied while achieving business results.
- Develop and provide employee and business balanced analysis of trends to identify drivers for change and opportunities for continuous improvement within your business groups.
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, L&D, Compensation & Benefits, Communications and Legal to develop value-added HR initiatives that support the Company’s Values, Goals and cultural behaviours.
- Drive or participate in global and local change programs with well-communicated rollout and support for managers and employees to implement changes effectively.
- Understand the people plan for your business units, including hiring needs and career progression; work with Talent Acquisition to support hiring/onboarding.
- Support the annual salary review process across your business units including participation in remuneration panels, recommendations and analysis of outcomes in line with global process.
- Drive the effectiveness of the performance review process, coaching managers and addressing performance issues as well as recognising star performers.
- Collaborate with local management and employee groups and the global HR team to identify and implement local initiatives in response to the annual Employee Opinion Survey.
- Support Diversity and Inclusion, employee recognition, and engagement activities to reinforce the company’s values and culture.
- Onboard new hires, including a Day 1 induction.
- Note: The EMEA region is supported by HR Coordinators in Hungary and the UK.
What You Will Bring
Essential
- Experience of UK and Hungary HR processes, policies and employment legislation
- Proven experience as a proactive HR Partner in an environment with change
- Experience in full employee life cycle HR management, including ER, performance and talent management, and compensation reviews
- Ability to provide pragmatic legal and best-practice advice to managers and leaders, clearly explaining value rather than just policy
- Proven ability to manage priorities based on business needs
- Experience delivering in a complex and fast-paced international work environment
- Ability to influence and build relationships with a variety of roles and stakeholders
- Proven ability to drive initiatives to successful completion
Preferred
- Experience in an international business
- Ability to participate as a member of a business-wide HR & management team
- Experience working in a matrix organisation with multiple stakeholders
- Project management experience
Skills & Abilities
- HR degree qualified or equivalent or working towards
- Solid knowledge of Hungary employment law and policies; SME for Hungary
- Good knowledge of UK employment legislation and experience managing UK HR cases
- Collaborative with a strong drive to deliver results and create a positive work environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication in English and Hungarian
- Strong prioritisation skills
- Ability to work in a team and be accountable for personal delivery
- Understanding of commercial drivers
- Conflict resolution
- Policy design and implementation
- Excellent time management; ability to manage conflicting priorities
- Experience across other European languages and supporting other EMEA countries is useful but not essential
