In-House Counsel
Eden India
Job Description
About the job
About Eden
Eden is a personalized health and wellness platform redefining how people access care. We combine physician oversight with precision-compounded therapies — delivering treatments for weight loss, anti-aging, hair growth, strength, and metabolic health directly to patients. In the US, Eden has helped thousands of members transform their health through programmes that are personal, science-backed, and built around the individual.
Eden is launching in India, bringing the same care model and standards that define Eden globally to a new market.
The Opportunity
We are hiring our first Internal Legal Counsel to be Eden India's in-house legal authority and to build the legal function from the ground up. This is a founding role — you will be the person the leadership team turns to when a decision has legal weight, and your judgement will shape how Eden India operates for years to come.
What You Will Own
- Serve as Eden India's primary in-house legal authority, advising the leadership team across regulatory, commercial, and compliance matters
- Own end-to-end regulatory compliance for Eden India's pharmacy and healthcare operations
- Lead the legal strategy for Eden India's licensing pathway and ongoing regulatory standing
- Partner with operations leadership on regulator relationships — licence applications, renewals, inspections, and regulatory correspondence
- Own compliance under the data protection and privacy framework applicable to Eden India
- Draft, review, and negotiate all commercial contracts — supplier, vendor, physician, technology, logistics, real estate, and employment
- Own Eden India's corporate legal hygiene — entity compliance, statutory filings, and cross-border arrangements
- Build the legal and compliance framework: policies, SOPs, escalation pathways, and documentation
- Manage external counsel for specialist regulatory, litigation, and IP matters
- Advise on consumer-facing legal matters — terms, marketing claims, grievance handling, and IP/brand protection
- Be the first line for any legal escalation, and contribute to Eden India's product and market strategy as a member of the leadership team
What We Are Looking For
- Qualified advocate enrolled with a State Bar Council in India
- Substantive experience advising pharmaceutical, healthcare, or life sciences businesses on Indian regulatory frameworks — this is a specialist role, not a generalist one
- Deep working knowledge of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, the Pharmacy Act, 1948, and the NDPS Act, including the practical realities of working with State Drug Controllers and the central drug authority
- Working knowledge of the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines and the regulatory environment for digital health in India
- Working command of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the broader patient data and privacy landscape
- Familiarity with FEMA, corporate law, and the cross-border legal considerations that arise in an India entity with international touchpoints
- Strong commercial contracting background — you can draft, negotiate, and close commercial agreements without leaning on outside counsel for routine work
- Has previously been the senior legal voice in the room, whether in-house at a healthcare or pharma company or in a specialist regulatory practice
- Comfortable making judgement calls in regulatory grey zones and standing behind those calls
- Pragmatic — understands the difference between legal risk that matters and legal risk that doesn't
- Brings the same precision to documentation, processes, and follow-through as to legal analysis
- Thinks like a builder — energised by setting up a function from scratch, not stepping into an existing one
- Seniority is open: we are more interested in the depth of regulatory expertise and the judgement you bring than in years on a CV
