JOB DESCRIPTION
PineStone Asset Management Inc. is seeking a Toronto-based Institutional Business Development and Relationship Management Professional to join our dynamic and growing team. This is a senior role in the organization with significant potential to make a positive impact on the firm and our clients.
Reporting to the Head of Client Relations, the successful candidate will serve as a key representative for the firm in Canada and will be responsible for building and managing relationships with Institutional Investors with a geographic focus in Ontario and other central and western provinces. It is expected that the individual will join PineStone with a robust network of relationships with institutional allocators in Ontario and other provinces. They will have a demonstrable track record of cultivating relationships and driving new business results.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate a strong working knowledge of capital markets and portfolio management, and the ability to serve as a key representative for the firm’s Investment Team, conducting strategy performance reviews for a wide array of clients, and writing investment commentaries as needed.
This role is a remote position. We anticipate the role will be based in a home office initially, with the possibility of opening a Toronto office in the future.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cultivate a robust pipeline of prospective opportunities with institutional investors, converting opportunities into long-term client relationships.
- Understand clients’ objectives, build and maintain the firm’s partnerships, and communicate all strategy and firm-related updates to its clients with a focus on generating “servicing alpha”.
- Participate in asset management industry events, including conferences, networking, and social events, etc.
- Drive initiatives proactively by identifying opportunities to strengthen client relationships and expand the firm’s business.
- Give presentations on the strategies as well as conduct in-depth portfolio reviews for clients.
- Participate in the creation of thought leadership marketing pieces and written quarterly commentaries.
- Collaborate seamlessly with other team members to ensure alignment, maintain investment consultant relationships, and deliver exceptional client service.
- Serve as an important resource for the Client Relations team members in providing insights and guidance on the strategies, competitive landscape, and market environment.
- Review client questionnaires, RFPs, DDQs, and ad-hoc queries from clients and consultants.
- Populate the firm’s CRM to maintain an appropriate record of activities.
- Operate with autonomy in managing priorities, making decisions, and executing strategies with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate resourcefulness in problem-solving and adapting to evolving client needs and market conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or a related discipline
- CFA/MBA preferred
- 12+ years of relevant industry experience with demonstrated professional achievement
- Prior experience in asset management or investment consulting required
- Ability to work collaboratively, foster collaboration across teams, and remain flexible
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, communication, and presentation skills are required
- Accuracy and attention to detail with strong analytical acumen
- Keen to engage in travel as needed
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
- Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment requiring adaptability and initiative
- Ability to travel as necessary to perform the role (anticipated travel of 25-50% but maybe more at times)
