General Counsel – Fintech Industry (Remote / Full Time Interim In-House)Latitude is seeking an interim General Counsel for a publicly traded fintech company entering a critical phase of growth. As the GC, you’ll lead the company’s legal and compliance functions, overseeing all legal, regulatory, and enterprise risk matters. You’ll be an integral member of the executive team, providing legal and strategic counsel to the CEO, business leaders, and the Board.

This is a remote long-term engagement position, with the opportunity to convert to a permanent position.Basic Requirements for General Counsel – Fintech Industry (Remote / Full Time Interim In-House)8+ years of sophisticated legal experience, including at a top-tier U.S. law firm and in-houseExperience as a General Counsel or senior legal leader within a fintech, digital lender, or regulated consumer credit technology companyExpertise in U.S. consumer lending, including TILA/Reg Z, ECOA, FCRA, UDAAP, GLBA, CCPA/GDPR, and state-level laws (Canadian consumer protection familiarity is a plus)Experience managing state licensing (money transmission, lending, consumer finance) across multiple jurisdictionsExperience leading compliance programs and regulatory strategy, including direct engagement with CFPB, FTC, and state banking regulatorsFamiliarity with bank regulatory frameworks; experience with ILC charter applications or de novo bank formationExperience advising public companies on SEC reporting, corporate governance, and disclosure obligationsDemonstrated track record of implementing AI and legal technology tools across legal/compliance workflows (e.g., contract review, regulatory research, monitoring, and risk analysis)Experience partnering with product and engineering teams on technology or AI-driven initiatives, with ability to assess and advise on related legal risksStrong leadership and team-building capabilities with a focus on high-performance, tech-enabled legal operationsExcellent academic credentials from an accredited law schoolOutstanding professional referencesLicensed to practice law and in good standing in the state of residencePosition Details of General Counsel – Fintech Industry (Remote / Full Time Interim In-House)Type of role: In-house counsel engagement with potential to convert to a permanent positionSchedule: Full-TimeLocation: RemoteDuration: 6 months or moreCompensation:Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $250,000 to $375,000 when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage for work or acts or omissions provided within the scope of a Latitude-authorized engagement.
All Latitude employees (including those on contract engagements) are also eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD and AD&D insurance. A qualified 401k plan is also available.
