Opportunity
An opportunity exists in Stantec's Toronto office for a highly motivated Intermediate Structural Engineer. In this role you will design structural elements and systems in steel, concrete, masonry, and wood for small to medium projects and collaborate on larger projects under a Senior Structural Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
- Work on multiple projects of small to large scale using various materials.
- Interact with a wide variety of clients from owners, developers, consultants, and contractors.
- Prepare design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for concrete, steel, masonry and wood building structures.
- Prepare and revise documentation at various design phases, including floor plans, diagrams, and details.
- Work with team members to determine viable solutions for design issues.
- Meet project timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate design work with other disciplines, offices, and project team members.
- Prepare and review technical reports.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Participate in Stantec’s quality assurance and quality control process.
- Perform construction administration including site reviews.
- Mentor, coach and train less experienced professionals as required.
Capabilities and Credentials
- General knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes (ex. OBC, A23.3, S16, S304, O86).
- Understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of structural systems, means & methods of construction, and materials.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and engage in creative and critical thinking.
- Understanding of structural engineering concepts and effective communication skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of component design software and building analysis software; experience with SAFE, SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, and/or MASS preferred.
- A self-starter who is innovative and enjoys working in a team environment.
Education and Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Structural/Civil Engineering from an accredited university required. Professional Engineer in good standing with PEO preferred. 5+ years of relevant experience in a consulting buildings structural team preferred.
Other Details
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and exposure to elements including inclement weather. Job may be reassigned or duties changed at any time.

Compensation
Pay Range: Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario: $94,600.00 - $137,100.00 annually.
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
