Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities, and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! This Full‑Time opportunity is for a Financial Analyst. The role can be based out of one of our main offices including Mississauga, ON; Stellarton, Dartmouth, NS.
Role Requirements
- Perform moderately complex analysis in specific areas such as business cases, capital spending, and budgeting.
- Review and assess cost classification (opex/capex) of spend against policy within the IT functional area.
- Manage project spending approvals within SAP and management reporting.
- Put forward suggestions to improve functional area processes.
- Provide excellent level of customer service to all levels of the business.
- Complete forecasting, targeting, and budgeting process for projects.
- Assist in development of performance analysis.
- Prepare various ad‑hoc and analytical reporting requests.
- Provide business case/invoice/contract support through approval processes, ensuring spend is within spend limits per business case or is supported by an approved change request.
- Communicate effectively with functional area managers and employees.
- Analyze capital investment opportunities as required.
- Perform required administrative tasks including running SAP reports, participating in meetings, and responding to phone and e‑mail messages.
- Perform GL and project cost account reconciliations and account analysis.
- Adhere to GAAP and CEO/CFO certification.
- Develop and manage reports in various systems including SAP, BMR, and BW.
- Special projects as assigned.
Required Experience
- An undergraduate degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Certified Professional Accountant or working toward accounting designation (CPA) considered an asset.
- Previous experience working in a retail environment.
- Previous SAP experience is an asset.
