Journeyman Maintenance Technician – Manufacturing Equipment

Our client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician with strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical troubleshooting skills. This role requires a valid Journeyman card and hands‑on experience maintaining production machinery in an industrial environment.

The ideal candidate has a background in hydraulic press repair, pneumatic systems, PLC troubleshooting, and general mechanical maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Perform arc welding as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation.
• Initiate purchase orders for parts and equipment.
• Repair or replace electrical components (basic level)
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic presses.
• Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Adjust, align, and calibrate mechanical and control components.
• Dismantle, inspect, and replace defective mechanical components.
• Follow all safety procedures and support a safe work environment.
• Read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and PLC indicators.
• Operate lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses to fabricate or repair parts.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment including motors, engines, conveyors, and production machinery.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

• Valid driver's license.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with lathes, mills, grinders, and welding equipment.
• Valid Journeyman card in an approved mechanical or industrial trade.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and perform PLC‑level diagnostics.
• Strong ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic presses.
• 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
• Associate's degree or equivalent technical training preferred; candidates may qualify with 6 months to 1 year of relevant hands‑on experience.

Preferred Skills:

• Ability to work overtime as needed.
• Strong understanding of root cause analysis.
• Preventive maintenance program experience.
• Experience in electrical/electronic manufacturing.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
• Regular standing, walking, reaching, and handling tools.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
• Visual acuity for close work, color differentiation, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Moderate to high noise levels depending on production activity.
• Occasional exposure to chemicals, vibration, and elevated work areas.
