Title: Ride & Show Electrical Designer
Location: Onsite in Anaheim, CA
Contract: W2 only, 24 month contract with potential for conversion to full time with either the client or CEI
Pay: $35–40/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match
Overview
Are you interested in creating and communicating design through production drawings for complex ride, show, and attraction systems? As a Ride & Show Electrical Designer, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Project Management, and external vendors to support the planning and execution of capital and sustainment projects.
In this role, you will produce CAD designs, detailed drawings, and supporting documentation for electrical and control systems used in ride and show environments. Your work will include electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, system layouts, mechanical details, assemblies for racks, consoles, control boxes, and documentation supporting attraction systems.
This position offers hands on involvement across multiple project phases, from design development through final as built documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in project design reviews
- Determine appropriate documentation for proper releases (e.g., Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP), Operational Test Procedures (OTP))
- Execute design control procedures using Engineering Communication Forms (ECF) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO)
- Perform electrical/electronic and mechanical design and drafting
- Research historical data and background information to support project requirements and assist in developing design solutions
- Support material, process, and vendor selection for design projects
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes, regulatory requirements, internal standards, and industry standards
- Review design packages with vendors and fabrication shops to verify conformance with design documentation
- Work with Engineers and Document Management teams to ensure as built drawings and project documentation are accurately completed and submitted into the electronic data management system (EDMS)
- Share knowledge and lessons learned related to design methods, materials, and industry trends
Required Skills
- 1–3 years of experience generating electrical controls designs in a multi discipline technical team environment
- AutoCAD experience required; EPLAN experience preferred
- Fundamental electrical and mechanical design knowledge, including basic manufacturing practices and processes
- Working knowledge of materials (metals, composites, plastics) and engineering documentation standards (ASME Y14 / Y14.5 exposure preferred)
- Basic understanding or exposure to Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities
- Comfortable working in deadline driven environments with guidance from senior designers or engineers
- Strong communication, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to learn new software tools and internal systems quickly
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Flexibility in scheduling, including occasional nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing CAD workstation tasks
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, crawl, and access confined spaces as needed
Required Education
- Associate degree (AA/AS) or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
Preferred Skills
- Experience in ride systems, attractions, entertainment technology, industrial automation, or similar environments
- Familiarity with SolidWorks
- Formal GD&T training or coursework
- Exposure to project coordination or project management practices
