About the Company
Our client, a well-established law firm, is seeking a Junior Legal Assistant to join their Legal Support Services team in Oakville.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, and format legal documents, correspondence, presentations, and other materials
- Compile records, briefs, and supporting documentation with guidance from senior legal assistants
- Arrange for service and filing of court documents, including online filings where applicable
- Draft and type correspondence and legal documents from handwritten notes, verbal instructions, or dictation
- Open and close electronic files while maintaining organized client and matter records
- Maintain and update client contact information within the CRM system
- Provide coverage support to legal assistants across the practice group during absences or vacation periods
- Assist with billing, docket entries, expense reports, scheduling, meeting coordination, and travel arrangements
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure timely delivery of documents and materials
- Support additional administrative and legal support functions as required
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of legal assistant experience within a law firm environment
- Post-secondary education in a Legal Assistant or Legal Administration program
- Strong knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and legal terminology
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, PDF software, and legal software applications
- Experience with document management and client relationship management systems is considered an asset
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Strong attention to detail, proofreading, and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a client-service focused approach
- Eagerness to learn new technology, processes, and develop professionally
Compensation
- Salary up to $56,000, commensurate with experience
- Hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of 4 days in office
