Overview

We have a vacancy in our busy, but friendly, Legal Section for a proactive and enthusiastic lawyer to provide advice across a broad range of Council functions, focusing mainly on contracts (including planning agreements) and local authority licensing.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice across a broad range of Council functions.
• Handle contracts, including planning agreements, and local authority licensing matters.
• Manage a varied and busy caseload in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with officers and councillors.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive.
• Previous experience in contracts, planning agreements or local government licensing is preferred but not essential.
• Experience with local government is desirable but not essential.
• Newly‑qualified people are welcome; training and supervision will be provided.
