Job Description
Position Summary
The Legal Assistant / Paralegal supports 3-4 attorneys in all phases of personal injury cases, with a strong emphasis on pre-litigation, litigation, and trial support. This position is intended for experienced candidates who can manage complex case files, anticipate attorney needs, and work independently while providing high-level support to clients and the legal team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support attorneys in all phases of personal injury matters, including pre-litigation, litigation, and trial
- Manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision
- Conduct detailed client intake and maintain consistent client communication throughout the life of the case
- Draft, review, and prepare legal documents including correspondence, pleadings, discovery responses, motions, subpoenas, and settlement demand packages
- Request, review, organize, and summarize medical records, medical bills, wage records, police reports, and expert materials
- Prepare and submit settlement demands and assist with negotiation support
- Track and manage all case deadlines, including statutes of limitation, discovery deadlines, and court-imposed timelines
- File documents with courts and administrative agencies (electronic and/or in person)
- Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, independent medical examinations, and client appointments
- Communicate professionally with insurance adjusters, medical providers, experts, court staff, and opposing counsel
- Maintain accurate, well-organized, and up-to-date case files in the firm’s case management system
- Assist with trial preparation, including trial notebooks, exhibits, witness lists, subpoenas, and courtroom logistics
- Ensure strict compliance with confidentiality, ethical rules, and firm procedures
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2–5 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in a personal injury law firm
- Demonstrated experience handling cases through pre-litigation, litigation, and trial preparation
- Strong knowledge of personal injury law, procedures, and timelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Professional demeanor with strong client-service and problem-solving skills

Work Environment
