Job Description
Machine Learning Scientist (Computer Vision) – Contract Remote · 3–6 Month Contract About the Role We are seeking a contract Machine Learning Scientist with deep hands-on experience in computer vision and image-based deep learning to support advanced genomic and biomedical imaging initiatives. This is a fully remote contract role focused on designing, training, and optimizing deep learning models for high-dimensional biological image data. The ideal candidate has strong experience building and training vision models from scratch, working with complex imaging datasets, and delivering production-quality implementations.
This position requires independent execution, strong experimental rigor, and the ability to translate cutting-edge research into scalable modeling pipelines. Responsibilities Design and train deep learning models for biomedical and genomic imaging applications. Develop computer vision pipelines for image preprocessing, segmentation, classification, and enhancement.
Implement and optimize CNNs, vision transformers, and modern image architectures. Lead model architecture experimentation, hyperparameter tuning, and performance benchmarking. Build scalable training workflows for large image datasets.
Implement reproducible experimentation practices and rigorous model validation frameworks. Translate academic research into applied, production-ready model implementations. Collaborate remotely with cross-functional scientific and engineering teams.
Document model performance, trade-offs, and experimental outcomes clearly and thoroughly. Required Qualifications PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology, or related field. Strong hands-on experience designing and training deep learning models for computer vision.
Advanced proficiency in PyTorch with custom training loop implementation. Experience working with complex or high-dimensional image datasets. Deep understanding of CNNs, segmentation models, vision transformers, and representation learning.
Experience with model evaluation, reproducibility, and experimental rigor. Strong Python software engineering practices. Ability to work independently in a remote contract environment.
Authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Experience with microscopy, biomedical imaging, genomics imaging, or spatial biology datasets. Experience deploying computer vision models into production systems.
Familiarity with MLOps tools, experiment tracking, and cloud-based training workflows. Prior experience in biotech or life sciences environments.
