Role Summary the Manager of Software Engineering is responsible for leading a global team of entry-level to experienced professionals focused on developing high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software in compliance with coding standards. This role balances strategic leadership with technical execution, supporting the coordination of resources and processes to deliver successful software releases while driving initiatives that align with the organization’s vision and goals Key Responsibilities • Team Leadership: Sets clear goals and objectives for team members to achieve operational excellence. Supervises, mentors, and coaches direct reports to foster a collaborative and dynamic environment. • AI & Performance Innovation: Leads AI-driven initiatives aimed at optimizing developer productivity and engineering performance. This includes implementing AI tools for automated code reviews, predictive bug detection, or streamlining the CI/CD pipeline. • Operational Management: Leads and prioritizes daily activities, ensuring policies, practices, and procedures are followed by colleagues, customers, and stakeholders. • Product & Strategy: Implements and tracks development timelines and negotiates feature sets with stakeholders. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinates communication across departments to align on strategies and drive organizational efficiency. • Technical Stewardship: Maintains a deep understanding of architecture and design, managing multiple dissimilar deliverables and training others as needed. Technical Requirements & Qualifications This is a hands-on leadership role. The ideal candidate must demonstrate deep technical proficiency and the ability to contribute to the codebase and architectural decisions. • Hands-on Programming: Extensive experience in Golang and Java. You should be comfortable performing code reviews and contributing to core services. • Database Expertise: Strong knowledge of both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) databases, including schema design and query optimization. • System Design: Proven ability to design scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems. You should understand the trade-offs between architectural patterns (Microservices, Event-driven, etc.). • Cloud Infrastructure: Practical experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EKS) and cloud-native development. • AI Integration: Familiarity with leveraging LLMs or AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or custom AI agents) to improve team velocity and code quality. Preferred Qualifications (Good to have) • Cybersecurity Domain Expertise: Applicants with experience developing Cybersecurity products (e.g., EDR/XDR, IAM, SIEM, or Network Security) will be given strong preference. • Security Mindset: Knowledge of secure coding practices (OWASP), vulnerability remediation, and building resilient security software.
