Job Description
The Manufacturing Machining Manager will be the main leader responsible for the Machining area. This professional will be tasked with ensuring focus on Safety, Quality, Costs, Productivity along with Continuous Improvement & People Engagement.
The manager will lead large-scale multidisciplinary teams of 300 members, (including supervisors, process technicians, and operators) driving a mindset of continuous improvement to become the benchmark and ensuring that the compressors maintain their global standard of quality and innovation.
RESPONSIBILITIESSafety Culture (EHS): Promoting strict compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental standards, Ensuring zero-accident work environment.Quality Control: Ensure compliance with Nidec quality standards, reducing scrap, internal rejection, and customer complaints. Support internal and external audits (quality, customers, certifications, safety, compliance) and ensure the implementation of corrective actions.Operations Management: Lead and enforce strict adherence to SOP's Safety Protocol and quality standards across all 3 shifts to minimize downtime and defects in Machining area to deliver volume.Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in the implementation of projects/Kaizens for waste reduction, layout optimization, Industry 4.0, line balancing, and increased productivity using innovative methodologies.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Management, Monitor and be responsible for the Machining area's key indicators, as established by the Organization.Leadership and People Development: Manage, empower, and inspire a high-performance team, identifying talent, developing successors, and promoting a positive and engaged organizational climate, always based on Nidec's 3Q6S culture. (Quality Worker, Quality Company, Quality Product Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Show Respect)Cost Management: Control OPEX for the machining area, ensuring budget compliance, headcount, overtime, and Consumables costs.Multifunctional Interface: Collaborate closely with Maintenance, Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and HR to resolve bottlenecks and ensure continuous production flow.HR Interface: Collaborate with HR in talent management, partnering in selection, performance evaluation, development plans, and succession planning. Ensure clear communication of the area's objectives, goals, and results to all levels of the machining area.Improvement Projects: Implement continuous improvement projects (Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, Poka-Yoke, work standardization, Digitization) in conjunction with Engineering and Quality.Discipline Management: Break time adherence, shift time adherence, shift schedule adherence, unauthorized absenteeism, workplace conflict management ensuring zero impact on productivity due to indiscipline.Team Accountability: Drive a culture of Ownership by setting clear KPI's, conducting regular performance reviews and implementing corrective actions.
REQUIREMENTS Solid knowledge of Machining processes. (Centerless & Cylindrical Grinding, Drilling & Honing,)Mastery of Lean Manufacturing concepts and tools (5S, Kaizen, OEE, VSM, Kanban, SMED, Poka-Yoke, Just-in-Time) to problem solving agility.Knowledge of Quality Management: ISO Standards, SPC, FMEA, PDCA, 8D, non-conformity control, root cause analysis (Ishikawa, 5 Whys).Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, product specifications, and process instructions.Familiarity and ability to structure data-driven decision making and drive outcomes.Knowledge of industrial ergonomics and line balancing.Integration with ERP/MES systems (SAP or similar) and production management tools (digital shop floor).Knowledge of industrial costing and transformation cost analysis (direct labor, indirect labor, efficiency, etc.).Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of discrete Machining production processes on machines, conveyor belts, industrial automation, robotics, and end-of-line quality testing.Problem-Solving Agility: Proactive approach to handling emergency line stoppages.

Additional InformationBachelor's degree in Engineering (Production, Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Industrial or related fields).
