Job Description
Lead Software Engineer
Matterport is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. The position is located in Irvine, CA and offers a schedule of Monday to Thursday in the office and the option to work from home on Friday.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and deploy new features and services
- Build features and services using Kotlin, Python, and front‑end technologies
- Build APIs, backend services, and integrations that support our products
- Work with relational and non‑relational data stores
- Collaborate with a cross‑functional team of product managers, designers, engineers, and QA
- Ensure proper monitoring and respond to issues with live environments
- Advocate for good engineering practices
- Contribute to a learning culture
- Mentor and coach junior engineers to meet their full potential
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of experience developing SaaS solutions using modern OOP languages such as Java and/or Server‑side Kotlin
- Experience with microservices such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with messaging frameworks such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Solid track record of developing testable, maintainable, well‑documented code
- Track record of commitment to prior employers
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Python
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch
- Experience with Autodesk Revit or other building information modeling software
- Exposure to non‑relational data stores such as FoundationDB
- Familiarity with UI frameworks such as React or Angular
- Exposure to or familiarity with Microsoft stack technologies including C#, .NET core, MySQL, etc.

Salary
Annual salary range: $170,000 - $222,000.
