Lead Software Engineer

Matterport is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. The position is located in Irvine, CA and offers a schedule of Monday to Thursday in the office and the option to work from home on Friday.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and deploy new features and services
• Build features and services using Kotlin, Python, and front‑end technologies
• Build APIs, backend services, and integrations that support our products
• Work with relational and non‑relational data stores
• Collaborate with a cross‑functional team of product managers, designers, engineers, and QA
• Ensure proper monitoring and respond to issues with live environments
• Advocate for good engineering practices
• Contribute to a learning culture
• Mentor and coach junior engineers to meet their full potential

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 8+ years of experience developing SaaS solutions using modern OOP languages such as Java and/or Server‑side Kotlin
• Experience with microservices such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with messaging frameworks such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Solid track record of developing testable, maintainable, well‑documented code
• Track record of commitment to prior employers

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Python
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch
• Experience with Autodesk Revit or other building information modeling software
• Exposure to non‑relational data stores such as FoundationDB
• Familiarity with UI frameworks such as React or Angular
• Exposure to or familiarity with Microsoft stack technologies including C#, .NET core, MySQL, etc.

Salary

Annual salary range: $170,000 - $222,000.
