Job Description
Position Overview
Full lifecycle Mechanical / Vehicle Engineer role within a specialty vehicle manufacturing environment. This engineer owns complete vehicle conversion systems from concept through production launch — no segmented OEM handoffs. The role requires hands-on design, prototyping, validation, and launch execution within a fast-paced, build-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead full product development from concept to production launch
- Design vehicle conversion systems in 3D CAD (Inventor preferred)
- Engineer mechanisms, suspensions, structures, closures, and integrated vehicle systems
- Build and support prototypes; conduct hands-on validation testing
- Perform FEA, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, DVP&R, and DFMEA
- Execute APQP / stage-gate development processes
- Meet cost, quality, durability, and performance targets
- Support production launch and troubleshoot issues on the floor
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Portfolio)
- Drive design standardization and cost optimization
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (U.S. accredited)
- 4+ years product development experience
- Proven experience taking complex products from concept through launch
- Strong 3D CAD skills (Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar)
- Hands-on prototyping and validation experience
- Strong mechanical fundamentals (mechanisms, structural design, system integration)
- Experience leading projects in cross-functional environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years relevant experience
- Automotive, specialty vehicle, transportation, or motorsports background
- DFMEA / PFMEA / DOE experience
- Root cause problem solving (8D)
- Sheet metal, welding, and vehicle packaging experience
- Knowledge of fuel, exhaust, cooling, and braking systems
- Experience with FEA, GD&T, tolerance analysis
- Lean and APQP familiarity
