The Network Specialist will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United States Air Force Test Operations efforts at AEDC.This position requires occasional scheduled extended hours and/or weekend work to meet critical contractual requirements and occasional unscheduled night or weekend support in emergency situations. Job SummaryThe individual hired for this position will function as a Network Specialist supporting test operations, system/maintenance engineering, and/or administration for computer networks used for real-time data acquisition systems and/or facility control systems in one or more of the various AEDC test facilities.
The networks involved are critical to ensuring facility data acquisition and control systems are available and adequate to meet test mission requirements. Core responsibilities of this role include providing the administrative support required for the configuration, cyber security configuration and maintenance of these critical test facility networks.Job Duties: Evaluate, select, and apply standard IT networking techniques and procedures to implement and administer operational voice, video, and data communication systems, using independent judgment to make necessary adaptationsAssist in the development, implementation, and execution of common work processes and procedures within the IT Network engineering functionAssist with providing network security, operations, and maintenance for test and industrial standalone networks, including system troubleshooting and return-to-service activitiesPrepare, interpret, and review calculations, specifications, and plans, using CAD/CAE tools to prepare or modify drawings and dataDevelop labor and material estimates for assigned tasks and assist in monitoring schedules, preparing forecasts, and managing change ordersCoordinate with customers, peers, operations staff, and craft personnel to ensure alignment on network engineering projectsReview design documents from equipment manufacturers or subcontractors and prepare comments and recommendationsDevelop and execute system verification and validation test plans to ensure network performance and integrityAdhere to all company policies and supervisory direction regarding the use of company-issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Perform other related duties as requiredBasic Qualifications:TCAT certificate or equivalent plus 0-4 years of progressively relevant IT Networking experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance and access to DoD network and computer systemsMust be able to obtain Security + certification within six months of employment.Current U. S.
Citizenship required.
